Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a modern adaptation of Psychoanalysis. We’ve ditched the couch, the cigar and the pompous attitudes, but still draw on much of its wisdom in understanding the workings of the human psyche, the various ways in which it works to preserve its mode of functioning and its relentless bid to find new resolution.
A Psychodynamic psychotherapist will be interested in the out of control nightlife of your unconscious mind; in patterns that emerge in your life, in how you manage boundaries and in the early relationships that still play a role in your life today – even in your relationship with your therapist.
Through the development of awareness and through the insights gained in this process, clients are better able to understand their own motivations and respond differently to old situations. From our particular perspective, the unconscious mind has an intelligence of its own that can be tapped into by making the unconscious conscious.
